Come visit the Washington Theater, at 425 Hampshire, in the Historic Quincy Business District for an event that is sure to open your eyes to the potential of this historic building. Everyone is invited to the “Make It Happen… MusicFest” taking place at the Washington Theater on May 19th. The event will begin at noon on May 19th and the music will play until 8:00 PM, possibly longer. There will be something for all music lovers so be sure to stop by to sit back and enjoy the show or to get up and dance, the choice is yours.

The goal of the event is to raise the community’s awareness of the Theater and, of course, to have a little fun. The event will be an open house/music festival so visitors are welcome to come and go as they please. There is a suggested donation of $2 per person. Participating downtown business will have their doors open as well. Soda and BBQ pork and chicken will be sold outside the Theater by Gaybo’s Grills on Wheels or you’re invited to stop by neighboring businesses for other food and drink options.

Bands already scheduled to perform include: Ben Bumbry and the Messengers, The Funions, The Collapse, Fielder, SevenD2 and Predawn Hour. More names will be added soon. The Funions recently played at the Washington Theater’s annual Ghost Party and band member Rodney Hart states, “It was one of the best times we have had as a band; you can feel the history seeping through this place.”

To kick off this special event O’Griffs is going to host a “Beer and Movie Night” in their East Room. From 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM on May 18th, the public is invited to enjoy an evening of fun. A movie handpicked by the Friends of the Washington Theater will be shown, live acoustic entertainment will happen, and beer tickets will be for sale, all proceeds will benefit the Theater.
